Carter Dzwik of St. Philip/Climax-Scotts is Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week

BATTLE CREEK — The fans have spoken.

The winner of the latest Bronson Battle Creek/Enquirer Athlete of the Week fan poll is Carter Dzwik of the St. Philip/Climax-Scotts baseball team.

Fans got behind Dzwik to help him edge finalists Devyn Brown, Sean Johnson, Emily Dietrich. Dzwik received 61 percent of the vote by the 5 p.m. Wednesday deadline. Thanks to his fans, he is being featured in this Enquirer Athlete of the Week Sunday spotlight.

Carter Dzwik was dominant from the mound, throwing a no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Mendon in conference play, striking out 15 over six innings. Also, in a showcase game at Cornerstone University, Dzwik pitched a one-hitter in a 11-0 win over Frankfort Elberta, striking out 13.

“Carter has been proving his senior leadership on the mound and at the plate this year. On the mound he has thrown two no-hitters and a one-hitter against a state-ranked team. He has 69 strikeouts in 33.1 innings pitched. Carter has a 1.050 ERA with an BAA of .092. Carter performs on both sides of the ball, batting .357 with an OBP of .526,” St. Philip/Climax-Scotts baseball coach Brandon Haynes said.
