Clemson skyrockets up 2027 recruiting rankings, major concerns still follow

Clemsonfootball has quickly become one of the biggest risers in the 2027 recruiting cycle.

A few weeks ago, the Tigers were sitting outside the national spotlight in the team rankings. After a flurry of commitments, however, Clemson has surged to No. 6 in the 247Sports rankings and No. 12 in the industry rankings from On3 and Rivals. The Tigers now have 19 commitments in the class, including 12 that have pledged over the past two weeks.

The latest additions came Monday when Clemson landed tight end Nicholas Pollack and four-star offensive tackle J.J. Brown, continuing a recruiting run that has helped reshape the class. Brown joined fellow offensive line commits Luke Starcevic, Carter Jones and Elijah Morrison, while defensive end Desmond Malpress remains one of the headliners on the defensive side.

The rankings jump is encouraging, but Dabo Swinney Clemson fans saw a similar story play out a year ago.

The Tigers built significant momentum during the 2026 cycle and appeared headed toward one of the nation’s top classes. Then the decommitments started. Several highly regarded prospects backed off their pledges, leaving Clemson with a much different group by the time signing day arrived.

That’s why the focus now shifts from adding commitments to keeping them.

There’s no question Clemson has momentum on the recruiting trail. The Tigers are winning battles against major programs and filling important positions early in the cycle. But with months remaining before prospects can sign, maintaining that momentum may be just as important as creating it.

If Clemson can hold this class together, the Tigers could continue climbing the rankings. If not, last year’s cycle serves as a reminder of how quickly things can change in recruiting.
