Clemson softball to play UNC Greensboro in NCAA tournament Athens Regional

CLEMSON — Clemson softball is the No. 2 seed in the Athens Regional in the 2026 NCAA Tournament.

The Tigers (32-20) will travel to Athens, Georgia, to face No. 3 seed UNC Greensboro (42-17). The Bulldogs (38-18) are hosting the regional after being the No. 10 overall seed and will face No. 4 seed Charleston (30-28).

Clemson has made the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season. The Tigers are not hosting a regional for the third time in program history but eye their fourth super regional appearance.

Clemson started its softball program in 2020 and has only missed the tourney in its inaugural season because of COVID-19.

The Tigers were the No. 7 seed in the ACC Tournament after going 13-11 in conference play but lost in the opening round to North Carolina on May 6.

Clemson ended the regular season ranked No. 22 in D1 Softball’s poll and No. 24 in RPI.

Clemson is led by pitcher Sierra Maness and outfielder Taylor Pipkins, both of whom earned third-team All-ACC honors.

The Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, is from May 8 through June 4 or 5.
