Cristiano Ronaldo has established himself as not just a footballer but a brand altogether with his influence reaching beyond the field and into other areas.
The Al-Nassr forward, who has spent two spells at Manchester United during his career, has countless deals with brands that he often promoted on his social media channels.
The Portuguese international has also expanded into football management and ownership as he looks to further build on his career away from playing professionally.
UD Almeria, who are owned by the forward, have made a number of signings and contract extensions ahead of the season including ensuring that veteran goalkeeper Fernando Martinez will stay at the club whilst also signing Andrej Popovic.
Whilst he continues to establish his influence off the field, however, Ronaldo is also preparing for the upcoming season with Al-Nassr.
Saudi Arabia news outlet Arriyadiyah have now revealed the truth behind the side’s finances, though, with the publication stating the club’s debts have passed 800 million Saudi riyals.
The publication have also reported that the Saudi Public Investment Fund have agreed on three new settlements to help ensure that the club remains afloat.
The first of this settlements reduces the financial powers of the current executive management, which is preventing signings from being made currently. Unless liquidity is raised, this part is likely to stay the same.
Al-Nassr are also looking towards hiring financial, commercial, and legal consultancy teams in an attempt to boost commercial revenue figures, reduce spending, and deliver on recommendations within a certain timeframe, all which aim to drag the club out of its current financial picture.
The third settlement is more drastic, however, involving weighing up the offers to buy Al-Nassr. The Public Investment Fund currently have two serious bids on the table, and are considering those.
With Al-Nassr in a dangerous position financially, which is putting them at risk of liquidation, Cristiano Ronaldo may be forced to adapt in the coming months in order to succeed once again.
