Caitlin Clark is facing criticism online after struggling in her first real WNBA game action since the middle of last season. In the 2026 season opener against the Dallas Wings, Clark struggled to find her groove.
Clark, now in her third WNBA season, had a rough go of things in the first half, getting scored on multiple times on the defensive end, and also not looking like her usual self scoring the ball, going 2-6 from the floor, including 0-3 from the three-point line. She also struggled to protect the ball, committing four turnovers in the half.
Clark caught fire briefly in the third quarter, but ultimately finished the game 2-9 from distance, including a miss on a late game-tying attempt in what was ultimately a 107-104 loss.
Clark has been arguably the most dynamic player in the WNBA since she entered the league, which makes it espeically tough to watch her struggling.
Criticism of Clark is mounting on social media after her struggles in her return
It’s still incredibly early in the season, but fans online are voicing their disspointment with Clark’s performance.
“Year 3 and Caitlin Clark won’t go to the cup left or take a jumpshot going right,” one fan wrote on X.
“Caitlin’s defense has been atrocious,” someone else added.
“Caitlin Clark is Russell Westbrook puts up great stats will make remarkable plays but just isn’t a winning player turns the ball over too much she’s too emotional like how Westbrook was on the court,” another fan added.
Saturday wasn’t Clark’s best performance by any means, but it’d be foolish to write her off so early, knowing how quickly she can catch fire.
