Dayton basketball: Date set for UC game at UD Arena

Jun. 2—The Dayton Flyers men’s basketball team will play Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 14, at UD Arena.

The date of the game was announced on Tuesday, June 2. It will likely be the fourth game of the season for Dayton, which has not announced its full non-conference schedule. Teams can open the season as early as Monday, Nov. 2.

This will be the first time the Bearcats have played at Dayton since 2004. It will be the fourth season in a row the programs have played after a 13-year gap between meetings. The first two games took place on a neutral court at the Heritage Bank Center in Cincinnati.

On Dec. 16, 2023, Dayton beat Cincinnati 82-68. DaRon Holmes II led Dayton with 28 points on 10-of-17 shooting.

On Dec. 20, 2024, Dayton lost 66-59 to Cincinnati. The Flyers trailed by 18 points with under eight minutes to play and cut the deficit to four points on a 3-pointer by Malachi Smith with 2 minutes, 1 second remaining. They then nearly made it a one-possession game, but a reverse layup attempt by Nate Santos rolled off the rim with 1:22 left.

On Nov. 11, 2025, Cincinnati led from start to finish and beat Dayton 74-62 at Fifth Third Arena on the UC campus. Dayton shot 7.7% (2 of 26) from 3-point range, while Cincinnati shot 47.4% (9 of 19).

Cincinnati leads the series 62-32. Twenty-one of Dayton’s victories in the series came before 1960. Since the 1957-58 season, Cincinnati has a record of 44-11 against Dayton.

Dayton’s 2026-27 non-conference schedule also includes games at Florida State and Liberty and two games at the Charleston Classic. The dates of those games have not been announced.

A game against Memphis will take place Nov. 29 at the United Center in Chicago, according to a report by the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
