Suddenly, the Philadelphia Flyers tight grip on their opening round series vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins looks a little tenuous.
After failing to sweep in Philadelphia, the Flyers were aiming to eliminate the Penguins in Game 5 at Pittsburgh.
Now the Flyers return home hoping to close out the Penguins in their NHL Stanley Cup playoff first-round series.
Here are all the details of Pittsburgh’s 3-2 Game 5 win and how to watch and gets tickets for Game 6 in Philadelphia.
Starting to get nervous? After it was looking like a sweep was in the cards, the Penguins have won two straight against the Flyers to force a Game 6.
Like Game 4 the Flyers fell behind in the first period, this time by a goal from Pittsburgh’s Elmer Soderblom.
They fell behind 2-0 in the second on a goal from Pittsburgh’s Connor Dewar but tied the game on goals by Travis Sanheim and Alex Bump.
However, the Penguins retook the lead late in the period when a shot by veteran Kris Letang bounced off the boards and ricocheted off Flyers goalie Dan Vladar and into the net.
After a flurry of shots from the Flyers at the end of third, Pittsburgh was able to hold on to the lead and send the series back to Philadelphia for Game 6.
While he didn’t score, Sidney Crosby seemed to come alive after a slow start to the series by assisting on two of the goals.
