The impact of Teoscar Hernandez missing time

Despite getting good news overall, Roberts knows that missing Teoscar for any length of time will be quite burdensome.

“Disappointing,” manager Dave Roberts said on losing Hernandez. “He’s been playing so well, and he’s a big part of what we’re doing. So to lose him for any length of time is not great.”

Luckily, the Dodgers get the ability to flex their depth and call up longtime minor leaguer Ryan Ward to fill in, who can really slug and has long deserved an extended look in the major leagues.

With the trade deadline approaching, Ward could be auditioning for another team as well, especially if he gets a good number of looks.

He made his major league debut last month while on the road against the Rockies, while Freddie Freeman was out on paternity leave.

However, now he gets the chance to play for the Dodgers faithful.
