The Miami Dolphins are currently viewed as one of the worst teams in the NFL entering next season, and in a way, it’s a bit tough to disagree. The Dolphins haven’t proven anything on either side of the football with this current roster, and with a new coaching staff in place, Miami will definitely have to hope it plays a lot better than it has in the past.
Some of the decisions the Dolphins have made have been impressive, but they still have a few guys on the roster who are being viewed as trade candidates.
That includes linebacker Jordyn Brooks, the 28-year-old from Dallas, Texas, who would make a lot of sense with the Dallas Cowboys.
“Brooks was a monster in 2025, recording a league-leading 183 tackles with 13 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Adding him on an expiring contract would be the perfect move since it ensures Dallas has a strong defense this year and creates competition among Brooks, Overshown, and Winters. That’s ideal since Winters and Overshown are also free agents in 2027.
“The options would be plentiful for the Cowboys, who could retain the best of the bunch to hopefully pair with Barham assuming he’s ready to start in year two. They could also move on from all three if they decide to go with a younger option in the 2027 NFL draft,” SI’s Randy Gurzi wrote.
The Cowboys’ defense has been a major reason they haven’t played the type of football most fans expect from an organization that’s one of the most storied in the world.
Brooks wouldn’t change everything for the Cowboys, but he’s definitely a lot better than what they currently have, and after having a decent season for the Dolphins in 2025, posting 183 tackles, there’s definitely a lot of reason to believe that he could be a guy the Cowboys look at for the short and long term.
