The Miami Dolphins were very intentional with how they went about the roster cleanout this offseason, which led to a host of star players being moved on.
One was receiver Jaylen Waddle.
Now a Denver Bronco, the Dolphins don’t have a good receiver room for new quarterback Malik Willis, which is far from ideal in his first year.
But did Willis wish that Waddle was still on the team?
“It was unfortunate, for sure, to say the least,” Willis said via NFL.com. “That’s a really good player and I would have loved to play with him, but that’s above my pay grade, brother. Out of my hands.”

Willis left with bare bones WR room
Willis doesn’t exactly have the best weapons around him as he enters his first year as a Dolphin.
Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, and Malik Washington are his top receivers, plus De’Von Achane as another option in the passing game.
That isn’t great, but it was intentional from the front office to strip it back and rebuild this thing from the ground up. No, it won’t be easy, especially with the receivers Willis has to work with, but it’s part of the process.
Which would have been a lot easier if just one star had been retained this offseason.
