The Philadelphia Eagles’ roster will continue to endure changes as the offseason progresses.

In addition to possibly trading A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots in June, the NFC East franchise could also part ways with assets deemed misfits. According to Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton, a 27-year-old Super-Bowl-winning tight end could be one of them.

“The Philadelphia Eagles signed Grant Calcaterra to a one-year extension,” Moton wrote Sunday. “Yet he doesn’t have a secure roster spot after the club selected Eli Stowers in the second round of the draft.”

“Dallas Goedert tops the Eagles’ tight end depth chart. Assuming Stowers emerges as the primary backup, Calcaterra would be the third-stringer. In that position, at 27 years old, the latter is in jeopardy of losing his roster spot on a new deal.”

After two consecutive seasons in which he recorded fewer than 10 receptions, Calcaterra received a more significant role in the Eagles’ offense during the 2024-25 campaign.

The SMU product finished the year with 24 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown on an Eagles squad that embarrassed the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. This past season, though, Calcaterra took a noticeable step back, totaling nine receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown in nine outings.

It’s unlikely the 6-foot-4 TE will get heavy reps with Philadelphia in 2026-27, giving the organization a clear incentive to move on from him before the season starts.
