The Eagles just released the video of Howie Roseman calling first-round pick Makai Lemon on Thursday night, and despite how unusual it all played out, things seemed relatively normal for Philly’s draft room — with everyone looking excited about the pick. As Roseman passes the phone to Nick Sirianni, you can see him look over to new OC Sean Mannion — the tall man with a freshly shaved head in the background — to celebrate.

One of the more viral moments from the first round of the NFL Draft was Lemon already on the phone with Steelers GM Omar Khan when the Eagles made the trade up to select the WR. It’s an incredible scene captured on video as Lemon and his family celebrate the call from Pittsburgh before he asks why Philly is calling him.

When asked about the situation at the end of the first night, Howie Roseman explained that it’s not often they have issues getting their draft pick on the phone, but ultimately they were able to get their guy.

“When we get on the clock, we immediately try and contact the player. It took us a couple minutes to contact the player and get him on the phone. You know, that hasn’t happened very often, so the clock got down a little bit lower than we would’ve liked, but we were able to get in touch with him and obviously select him.“

Also somewhat notable from the video of the Eagles call to Lemon was that as the team was using their first round pick on a wide receiver, WR coach Aaron Moorehead doesn’t even enter the room until mid-conversation. Probably just stepped out for a minute, but the selection definitely appeared like a Mannion pick.
