Marcus Rashford and England concluded their World Cup campaign on Saturday, taking on France in the Bronze Medal Final.
Rashford, who played in the opening game of the tournament against Croatia, started the game against France with Thomas Tuchel opting to rest some of his more well-known individuals.
England started on the front front, taking the lead after just three minutes with Declan Rice striking from the edge of the box to put the Three Lions in front.
Tuchel’s side soon struck again, this time from a corner, as Ezri Konsa put his headed effort into the bottom right corner.
Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford teamed up for England’s third, displaying patience after shots were blocked. The Manchester United winger ultimately waited for the fight moment before passing the ball to Saka who struck the ball into the net.
Saka would add again to his goal just before the break, putting the Three Lions 4-0 up at half-time.
Rashford was taken off at half-time, with Ollie Watkins replacing him, although six further goals were scored in the second half.
The English media have now been having their say on his performance as the left-winger prepares to return to Manchester United.
TNT Sports gave Rashford an eight and said that he “came close to doubling England’s lead through his blocked shot inside six minutes.”
The outlet also added that “a dip of the shoulder and a sumptuous nutmeg on Zaire-Emery led to his swirling shot from range which had Mike Maignan scampering to save.”
Finally, TNT said that he “was patient, having picked up the scraps from his own thwarted attempt to set up Saka selflessly as England added a third inside 37 minutes. A lively and impressive 45-minute cameo.”
London Evening Standard gave the 28-year-old a seven, adding that he “had one great effort from range which forced a good save and assisted Saka for the Arsenal man’s first goal.”
The Mirror, similarly, gave Rashford a 7/10, explaining that he “looked more free and dangerous – and provided an assist for Saka. Subbed at half time.”
Rashford will now return to Manchester United where he will begin work ahead of next season.
