Jordon Ibe has pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex-girlfriend outside her home.
The former Liverpool winger changed his plea at Croydon Magistrates’ Court and is now due to be sentenced on September 4.
Ibe attacked his ex-partner Amie Mayson outside of her home in Lambeth, south London on December 14, the court heard.
The incident
They had become embroiled in a dispute after Ms Mayson confronted Ibe to demand he repay money she claimed was owed to her.
Prosecutors stated that Ibe grabbed Ms Mayson by the hair after she labelled him a ‘druggy’.
He is said to have arrived at the property with a bag filled with drinks, snacks and flowers.
After grabbing Ms Mayson’s hair, Ibe pulled a braid from her head, leaving her with a bald spot, the court heard.
In a victim impact statement read out in court on Tuesday, she said: “Looking in the mirror is very distressing for me, the injury is a constant reminder of what happened and often leaves me feeling emotionally drained and upset.”
Ibe, who previously denied the charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in March, spoke to confirm his personal details and change his plea to guilty.
District Judge Polly Gledhill told the court: “We are in community order territory and I am going to ask for a pre-sentence report. I am not ruling anything out.”
Ibe has been granted bail with conditions stating he must not contact Ms Mayson or visit her residence.
The 30-year-old will be sentenced at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on September 4.
He is currently without a club after leaving Bulgarian side Lokomotiv Sofia at the end of last month.
It followed an eight-month spell with the top-flight outfit having signed in November.
During that time, he made nine competitive appearances for the club.
Ibe began his senior career with Wycombe Wanderers before joining Liverpool aged 16 in 2011.
He subsequently moved to Bournemouth for a then club-record £15million fee five years later.
Ibe scored four goals in 119 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Bournemouth.
The former England Under-21 international has also had permanent spells with Derby County and Turkish side Adanaspor.
Prior to joining Lokomotiv Sofia, he featured in non-league for Ebbsfleet United, Hayes and Yeading, Hungerford and Sittingbourne as well as appearing in Baller League.
