A former Nebraska defensive lineman is making a change of position in the NFL. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are switching Nash Hutmacher from defensive tackle to offensive guard.
Hutmacher has never played offensive line in his football career. He joined the Bucs as an undrafted free agent after being unselected in the 2025 NFL draft.
The former Husker played at Nebraska from 2020 to 2024. He appeared in 49 games and recorded 79 tackles, 12.5 for loss and 6.5 sacks.
It’s clear that Tampa Bay sees potential in the 6-foot-4, 310-pound lineman, but learning a new position at the professional level is a fascinating experiment. TB needs depth on the offensive line, and clearly, Hutmacher’s physicality and background are seen as something that could help the team.
