Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is making an NFL comeback. The former second round pick has been invited to Green Bay Packers rookie minicamp for a tryout, per Matt Schneidman.
Claypool was drafted by the Steelers in 2020 and had an electrifying rookie season, catching 62 passes for 873 yards and nine touchdowns. That season, he had a four-touchdown game against the Philadelphia Eagles, which had many labeling him as a future star in the league. He had another solid year in 2021, catching 59 passes for 860 yards and two scores.
In 2022, Claypool was traded to the Chicago Bears for a second-round pick – a pick that was practically a first-round pick, as it was the No. 32 pick in the draft. The Steelers used that pick to draft Joey Porter Jr. Claypool caught 18 passes in 10 games with the Bears before being traded to the Miami Dolphins in 2023, where he caught four passes in seven games. He signed with the Buffalo Bills ahead of the 2024 season, but was placed on IR with a foot injury and didn’t play a game.
