Cam Skattebo isn’t holding back.

Top athletes often set their goals sky high, and the New York Giants‘ second-year RB is apparently no exception.

Coming off an injury-ended 2025 season, Skattebo isn’t just hoping to get healthy. He’s hoping to have one of the best running back seasons in NFL history.

“When I play 17-plus games this year, it’s going to be 300 carries for over 2,000 yards,” Skattebo said recently, via NFL.com.

As a rookie, Skattebo ran 101 times for 410 yards.

So by his math, he’ll need to run for nearly 1,600 more yards this season. And he’ll have to raise his average from about four yards per carry to more than six yards per carry.

Is that a little crazy? Sure, but that’s the persona Skattebo gives off in pretty much everything he does, so maybe it seems realistic to him.

It’s also hard to know whether Skattebo can even stay healthy. His running style doesn’t seem to bode well for that.

He had a nasty leg injury in Week 8 of his rookie season and missed the rest of the year. The good news is that appears to be a thing of the past.

But could another injury be just around the corner? Even if not, 2,000 yards is an incredible goal. It’ll be hard for Skattebo to get there even in perfect circumstances.

But you’ve gotta give the guy credit. Why aim for a half measure? He’s going for it all, and as someone who runs full throttle all the time, that certainly makes sense.
