Memphis Grizzlies fans have set up a memorial at FedExForum to pay their respects to Brandon Clarke.
Clarke, 29, died May 11 in California. He had spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Grizzlies. Along with Ja Morant, Clarke was the longest tenured player on the team.
Fans have been placing flowers and cards at FedExForum as a makeshift memorial for Clarke.
“Always a Memphian! Always a Grizzly! We love you BC,” read a poster in front of a light pole in the plaza outside the arena.
Clarke’s work in the Memphis community has been highlighted in the days since his death. He launched the Brandon Clarke Foundation in 2025, and the organization later donated to ARrise2Read, a non-profit organization focused on helping kids enhance their literacy skills outside the classroom. ARise2Read has seen an influx of donations after Clarke’s death, executive director Dr. La Tonya Mouzon told The Commercial Appeal on May 13.
The Grizzlies released a statement on May 12.
“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the team said. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
