Bayern Munich’s DFB-Pokal final clash against VfB Stuttgart saw the latter dominate the first half, restricting the Bavarians’ play and getting much closer to a goal. They faded somewhat as the game wore on but, to truly tip the game in their favor, Bayern Munich needed the opener.

Then it came through Harry Kane, who headed in the all important opening goal. In a display of true world class quality, the former Tottenham Hotspur player spun around a player with perfect control with one touch before burying the shot to seal the victory. A late penalty allowed him the chance to bag a hat trick.

All in all, one can say it was a pretty decent game for the 32-year-old.

“That was definitely one of the best nights of my career,” Kane explained breathlessly after the final whistle, as captured by Bayern’s official website. “I was incredibly excited for this final. I’d heard so much about it from many players who had already experienced this final with the club. I wanted to make the team proud, I wanted to make the fans proud. And then to score a hat-trick in a final – it’s just a very special game and a very special feeling. I’m extremely proud of that. It’s been a long and tough season. To finish it like this is perfect.”

But Kane is far from done with football for the time being, despite Bayern’s season ending. He will go into the World Cup off the back of an incredible season for Bayern and with all the determination in the world to win England their first World Cup title in 60 years.
