The push and pull of contract negotiations is an art form of sorts.
When it comes to Bayern Munich star striker Harry Kane, it has been assumed that this would not be much of a tug o’ war.
Bayern Munich wants Kane back (badly) and the Englishman appears to want to come back.
So, this one should be easy, right?
Maybe not — or at least maybe not as easy or as fast as Bayern Munich would like.
According to a report from Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Julian Agardi (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich wants to expedite negotiations and get a deal done, while Kane is content to take it slow:
Harry Kane had asked the club to delay the contract talks as long as Bayern were still in the Champions League. Now after the CL exit, the club’s bosses want to approach Kane’s camp in order to wrap up a new deal before the start of the World Cup. The striker has signalled his openness to stay, but has also said that he’s not under pressure – negotiations after the World Cup are also okay for him.
This really might just be about when Kane wants to sit down and get a deal done. This has been an exhausting season for the 32-year-old and with the World Cup ahead, he might just want to take it slow — at least that’s what everyone is hoping.
Despite rumors linking him to FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, Kane does not appear to be ready to move on from Bayern Munich. And while everyone would like to just get his name on the dotted line, it will likely all come down to a matter of “when” and not “if” — at least as it stands right now.
