Burns, Cherryville and North Lincoln baseball teams now know where they’ll play for NCHSAA state titles.
After sweeping Lincoln Charter in the 4A West championship series, Burns will travel to North Main Athletic Complex — formerly known as Ting Park — in Holly Springs for a 4A final clash with Bunn. Game 1 of the best-of-three series is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, with Game 2 scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28. If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 3 would take place Thursday at 5 p.m.
For Burns, the venue is where the program won its only NCHSAA title in 2023.
While Burns holds down the fort in Holly Springs, there will be a distinct local flavor Wednesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 28 at Burlington Athletic Stadium. On those dates, Cherryville and North Lincoln will take the field for NCHSAA 2A and 5A championship series, respectively.
Following a two-game sweep in the 2A West final over Cornerstone Charter, Cherryville takes on 2A East champion Rosewood in pursuit of its first state title in a decade. The Ironmen will start the series Wednesday at 5 p.m. in Burlington. Game 2 is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, with a winner-take-all Game 3 later that evening at 5 p.m. if necessary.
Seeking its second NCHSAA title in a row, North Lincoln takes on Seaforth in the 5A state final Wednesday and Thursday in Burlington. The Knights won their first state championship at the site in 2019 following a sweep of Randleman.
North Lincoln earned its spot in the 5A state championship series after being taken to the limit in last week’s 5A West final against South Point. Game 1 against Seaforth is at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Game 2 is Thursday at 2 p.m., with a winner-take-all Game 3 at 8 p.m. later that evening if necessary.
While the NCHSAA baseball championships will be decided in Burlington and Holly Springs, softball state titles are to be contested at UNC Greensboro and Duke University. Here’s a schedule for this week’s action.
