The Atlanta Falcons wrapped up a busy first week of OTAs as the players got their first taste of head coach Kevin Stefanski’s coaching style. One thing that Stefanski has done differently from the previous regime is having the quarterbacks begin each day under center.
Former Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson seemed to be fixated on operating from the pistol formation, and while there are benefits, some felt this tendency hindered Michael Penix Jr.’s development. Penix has gotten back to the basics under Stefanski, but he won’t be handed anything this season.
The team signed Tua Tagovailoa to add experience and leadership to Atlanta’s QB room. Tagovailoa and Penix are having a competitive battle that will only get more intense as the Falcons’ offseason training program goes on.
