It’s a day of festivities for the Inter squad, who have lifted the Serie A trophy in front of a sold-out San Siro crowd and are now preparing to parade their two pieces of silverware around the city of Milan after claiming both the Scudetto and Coppa Italia titles over the last few weeks. Here is what the jubilant Nerazzurri players have had to say.
Inter played their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon, ending level at 1-1 in a dead rubber between the champions and the already-relegated Hellas Verona.

This came a few days after Cristian Chivu and his players defeated Lazio 2-0 at the Stadio Olimpico to claim the Coppa Italia title and the domestic double. Inter have not won both domestic trophies since Jose Mourinho’s treble in 2010.
Today is the day they celebrate. The trophy presentation has concluded and now the players are setting off on an open-top bus parade around the city of Milan. Here are the latest reactions from the Inter squad on the day of their double celebration.

What the Inter players said about Serie A and Coppa Italia double
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
The Armenian is now 37 years old, but hasn’t yet decided whether he will continue playing or hang up his boots: “I haven’t decided what I’ll do next year yet,” the midfielder told DAZN after full-time on Sunday.
“I will talk to the club over the next few days and I will make my assessments. I will decide whether to continue or retire.”

The veteran full-back is out of contract at the end of June and will be leaving the club: “It’s definitely been exciting, six fantastic years. Now we’ll enjoy the party that awaits us.
“It’s been a difficult season and we’re taking home two trophies. The fans are fantastic, they’ve made me feel at home since day one.”

The Spaniard has made it clear that he hopes to be Inter’s clear first-choice next season once Yann Sommer departs: “It’s been a slightly difficult season for me, but I’m happy that we’ve been able to win two trophies. It’s an unforgettable feeling.
“I was lucky to have a bigger role in the Coppa Italia and the coach gave me the confidence I needed. Everyone’s helped me and in the end, we’ve won two trophies.”
And when asked if he wants to be Inter’s no.1 next term, he replied: “Of course, otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”
Marcus Thuram

Lilian Thuram has strong links, but Marcus says that his dad will still be proud of him this evening: “He’s Juventino, but he’s my dad and he’s very happy for me.
“I was talking to my dad recently and he told me to remember those who have always stuck by me. When I think about that, I think about Marco (Materazzi), because he always trusted me and sent me messages when I wasn’t doing so well. A player like him with faith in me is really important.”
Where did Inter’s season really start to turn around?
“It’s true that we spoke to each other after the international break and decided to move forwards and do everything we can to win the Scudetto.”
And does Thuram feel that he and Lautaro would have been able to make it in Inter’s treble-winning side of 2010?
“Maybe we might have played in the cup games. Comparing eras is always difficult. Inter have always had great players and I’m proud to be part of its history.”

The Poland international has now won two Scudetti with two different clubs: “I’m happy that, without injuries and with the trust of the coach and his staff, I’ve been able to show my worth. I’m happy there’s something to celebrate now.”
“These are two special titles. I hope to win it again and fight on all fronts next year.”

The Turkiye international says that he doesn’t understand why he was being so strongly linked with a move away from the club last summer: “Everyone was talking about me over the summer, I had nothing to do with it and I didn’t know why my name was being thrown about everywhere.
“As I said when I came back, I’m happy at Inter and in Italy, my family are doing well and I never had any doubts about us winning this year. I’m even happier with the double.
“I think people can see that I’m doing fine. I always like to do my talking on the pitch, I don’t like to talk too much away from it, even if they’re always talking about me from the outside. There’s always chaos.
“When I see my name out there, I wonder why given that I don’t like to talk. I had a few injuries, but I always responded whenever I was on the pitch. I like being in Italy, I have a contract here and we’ll see what happens.”
