The Los Angeles Rams and the Cleveland Browns agreed to one of the biggest trades in the history of the NFL season when the Browns came to terms on trading one of the most prominent players in the NFL, Myles Garrett, to the Rams.
From requesting a trade demand in the year 2025 and pledging not to return to the Browns, to signing an extension of $122 million, Myles’ wish for a potential Super Bowl ring was granted when the Browns agreed to let go of the star defensive player of the team.
Accomplishing the most blockbuster trade of the NFL season didn’t come easily for the Rams. The star player had signed a no-trade clause in his contract. This was one of the biggest hurdles for the franchise.
The trade came in terms when Garrett decided to waive the no-trade clause with the Browns, allowing both the organization to come up with a deal and him to have future leverage as he joined the new team.
What does Browns get in return? The franchise got a package of a promising young star, “Jared Verse,” a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick from Los Angeles.
In a recent conversation with the media, the general manager of the Rams, Les Snead, talks about the hurdles that came in the way, and said, ”
“Andrew and I have a good relationship.
We like talking about football a good bit. So I would pester him a little bit, probably jokingly at first, and keep doing that. And then we began talking a little more seriously about it. We tried to do this with draft compensation. Then the draft came and went. We picked talks back up”
“We tried to discuss, you know, more draft compensation. At the end of the day, and where it got a little tough for us, is they asked for Jared Burst in return. And similar to what Cleveland did at first, we were a no, based on all that Jared’s done for our organization. So during May, we kept trying”“We tried to work things out, tried to figure out a solution. But as the June 1st date came, let’s call it, as it was getting closer, probably sometime in late May there into that weekend, we kind of had a decision to make. We knew where Cleveland stood. They knew where we stood.”

Rams DE Myles Garrett on Being Traded Away From the Browns
Myles Garrett was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the year 2017, and ever since then, he has been the star player of the franchise. Despite playing with the Browns for many years, Garrett has decided to choose a different path and is looking forward to his new home with the Rams.
Trading Garrett to the Rams was not an easy decision for the franchise, as they have watched him grow into the organization. For decades Garrett was one of the best players the Browns had. In his time with Cleveland, the star has won three Sporting News Defensive Player awards. In the 2017 NFL draft, Garrett was the number one overall pick for the Browns. The long journey of Garrett comes to a bitter end with the Browns.
In the recent conversation with the media Garrett said how thankful he is for the organization and how he loved being there.
“He also added “I don’t take my time in Cleveland for granted. I did love being there. My family had become really a part of the community. You definitely had to start to plant roots, had a home. And just becoming friends with all the people in your neighborhood and getting to know people and getting out and just feeling like this is your second home. Stuff like that, it tears at you to leave and to break away.”
