The New York Mets probably didn’t plan on getting swept by the Miami Marlins this weekend.

They also didn’t help their cause on Sunday by scoring exactly zero runs.

Tough to win when you don’t score.

And while the Marlins could’ve just walked off a scoreless game in the bottom of the ninth with one run, where’s the fun in that?

Instead, Heriberto Hernandez went dead central with the bases loaded for a walk-off grand slam.

Given Devin Williams’ struggles already this season, this moment probably isn’t going to raise his confidence too much.

With this outcome, the Mets are now 22-31, dead last in the NL East Division.

The Marlins, even with the sweep, are only 25-29. They’re a spunky team but not an obvious contender. They shouldn’t be sweeping the Mets’ expensive roster.

At this point, though, New York is clearly not the team they look to be on paper. And the on-field product is starting to get pretty darn depressing.
