‘It’s being finalised’ – Joan Laporta confirms Barcelona set to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle

Joan Laporta has confirmed that Barcelona are working on a deal to sign Anthony Gordon from Premier League side Newcastle United.

The Catalan giants have agreed a €70 million transfer for the England international and Laporta has confirmed that the transfer is now being wrapped up.

“The Gordon deal is being finalized, but it’s not official yet. I’ve been informed of everything,” he said, per Mundo Deportivo.

According to the latest updates, Gordon is expected in Barcelona this afternoon for a medical and he will then sign his contract. All parties appear eager to get the transfer completed quickly after an agreement was reached.

It’s expected that Gordon will sign a five-year contract at Barcelona and become the club’s first signing of the summer.

Gordon is then due to head out to the World Cup with England over the summer. The Three Lions play Croatia, Ghana and Panama in the group stages of the tournament.
