There is a new quarterback battle ongoing for the Minnesota Vikings, but it appears the relationship between the two signal callers in the competition is fairly normal.
J.J. McCarthy missed his rookie season with the Vikings due to a meniscus injury, and then only started 10 games last year after missing part of the year due to multiple injuries. Now, he’s looking to return to the starting role, but he will have to beat out Kyler Murray, who started the past seven seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before being released in March.
But even though fierce competition is likely ahead for the two quarterbacks, they seem to be getting along just fine. In fact, according to McCarthy, the two are pretty much classmates at this point.
#Vikings QB JJ McCarthy on his relationship so far with Kyler Murray:
“It’s just like two guys in a classroom. He sits on one side and I sit on the other side. It’s the coaches’ responsibility to teach us and coach us.”

McCarthy also denied that there is any “awkwardness” in the situation during the same interview. Eventually, that may change, given the fact that the starting quarterback job will be on the line. But at the moment, everything is going well between the two.
