Former Duke guard Jared McCain revealed what was said to him after being the beneficiary of two hard fouls during garbage time of Game 5 in the Western Conference Finals.
“Yeah, that was crazy; I didn’t expect it,” he said. “We were at the free throw line and I was like, ‘Why’d you do that, man?’ and he was like, ‘I got another one for you too.'”
Fellow Duke alum Mason Plumlee committed one of the fouls, while another came from 15-year NBA veteran Bismack Biyombo. In his comments, McCain did not clarify which veteran center spoke with him at the free-throw line. McCain went on to indicate that there were no hard feelings, saying, “But it’s all in competition; you gotta respect it.”
McCain and the Thunder will be in action once again Thursday for Game 6 as they hope to close out the Spurs on the road.
