Jonah Coleman discusses first NFL game, playing for Sean Payton

Don’t let the inexperience fool you; Denver Broncos running back Jonah Coleman is ready for the big time.

Coleman, who grew up in Stockton, California, just over an hour outside of Santa Clara, where the San Francisco 49ers play, has had very little interaction with the NFL. Just a day after he was selected by the Broncos in the fourth round (108th overall) of the 2026 NFL draft in April, Coleman revealed that he had never even attended an NFL game.

“I’m not gonna go to an NFL game until I make it to the NFL,” said Coleman during an appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football show.

Coleman also spoke about what it was like to play for Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

“It means a lot to me to be honest with you,” Coleman told GMFB. “I grew up watching a lot of football, I seen Sean Payton coach, and being with (Washington Huskies coach) Jedd Fisch, he’s been with Sean Payton before, and they share a lot of similarities and a lot of values with how they run their programs… I feel like it’s definitely going to be an easy transition for me as far as on the field and off the field.”

Fans will get their first in-person look at Coleman in Denver’s offense when the Broncos begin training camp later this summer.
