Leeds United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Julian Brandt on a free transfer.
Brandt will leave Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires at the end of the month, having spent seven seasons at the club.
The 30-year-old recorded 57 goals and 70 assists over 307 appearances for Dortmund after his move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2019.
A 48-time German international, who played at the 2018 World Cup, Brandt could play outside of his home country for the first time.
As per the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds believe they are a potential option for the attacking midfielder.
However, at least one Champions League side are also interested in signing him on a free transfer.
Should Leeds get a deal over the line, it would be a significant coup for the Yorkshire outfit.
Brandt won the 2020/21 DFB-Pokal with Dortmund and was also in the squad that reached the 2023/24 Champions League final.
Building blocks
Leeds are preparing for a second consecutive Premier League season under Daniel Farke.
They finished 14th and eight points clear of the bottom three after looking as though they would fall into a relegation scrap.
A trip to Nottingham Forest awaits them on the opening weekend of the 2026/27 campaign.
Brentford, Brighton, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace make up the rest of their first five fixtures.
Whilst other Premier League sides have started to strengthen their squads, it has been a quiet summer at Leeds thus far.
Illan Meslier will leave Elland Road at the end of the month after a seven-year spell.
The goalkeeper did not make a single senior appearance last season, but played two matches for their Premier League 2 side.
Leeds could face another departure between the sticks this summer as Karl Darlow is understood to be a target for Manchester United.
United want a homegrown goalkeeper to replace Altay Bayindir as their back-up to Senne Lammens.
Darlow’s contract at Leeds will expire at the end of the month, with a new deal not being agreed as of yet.
