This is the Junior dos Santos vs. Robelis Despaigne live blog for the main card heavyweight bout at MVP MMA: Rousey vs. Carano on Saturday at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.
Dos Santos (23-10) is a former UFC heavyweight champion and he holds notable wins over Cain Velasquez, Stipe Miocic, Fabricio Werdum, Mirko Cro Cop, Derrick Lewis, and Frank Mir, among others. The 42-year-old most recently competed under modified rules for Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA, having his hand raised with a knockout over Alan Belcher and a second win over Werdum. However, his UFC run ended in 2020 with four consecutive losses.
A former UFC fighter, Despaigne (5-2) has been reborn as one of the faces of Karate Combat, scoring multiple highlight-reel knockouts—including four in 20 seconds or less—en route to winning a heavyweight title. Despaigne has lost his past two MMA fights, but looks to add the decorated dos Santos to his increasingly impressive hit list.
