The Baltimore Ravens let Keaton Mitchell leave this offseason in free agency, and he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers.
That happens, but the way this happened may be surprising to some Ravens fans.
Apparently, Baltimore didn’t even reach out to Mitchell.
“I was surprised,” Mitchell told reporters on Wednesday.
He said in his press conference with Chargers reporters that he and his agent both were left hanging by the Ravens, who he says didn’t reach out to either of them.
#Chargers RB Keaton Mitchell says he was shocked the Ravens had no interest in bringing him back — to the point that neither he nor his agent even heard from them.

Mitchell was by no means a perfect player for the Ravens, but he still seemed to have intriguing upside.
His top-end speed ranked among the best among RBs in the NFL, and he was just a couple seasons removed from that immensely promising rookie campaign.
He looked better in 2025 than he did in his injury-recovery season of 2024, but apparently that wasn’t enough to keep him in Baltimore.
The Ravens brought in a new coaching staff, and they may have decided to move in their own direction to put a personal stamp on the roster.
That led Mitchell to the Chargers, where he’ll slot in behind Omarion Hampton on the depth chart. You can be he wouldn’t mind proving the Ravens wrong on this.
