Los Angeles Lakers star guard Austin Reaves provided an update to the media on his oblique injury ahead of Game 5 against the Houston Rockets.
After practice on Tuesday, Reaves said that he feels good and will see how his body feels on Wednesday ahead of the contest.
“I feel good,” Reaves said. “Trending in the right direction. Can’t wait to wake up tomorrow and attack another day.”
The star guard made his first media appearance since April 2, when he initially injured his oblique against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Austin Reaves trending toward Game 5 return
The Lakers are optimistic that the former undrafted guard will make his return in Game 5.
“Multiple sources are telling me right now that Austin Reaves and the Lakers are optimistic that he’ll make his return to the lineup on Wednesday night in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets,” ESPN’s Shams Charania reported.
“He is about four weeks removed from a Grade 2 oblique strain, but Austin Reaves has been making great progress over the last one to two weeks, progressing from one-on-ones to larger group scrimmages with no setbacks.”
“So barring any type of an issue over the next 24 hours, Austin Reaves is going into practice today in Los Angeles with significant hope that he can get back into the lineup,” he added.
The Lakers are up 3-1 in the series against the Rockets with a chance to close things out in front of their home crowd.
Los Angeles is one win away from taking on the Thunder in the second round of the playoffs.
