Lamine Yama and Gavi have both been named in Spain’s World Cup 2026 squad along with Barcelona team-mates Pedri, Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsi, Joan Garcia and Eric Garcia.
The call-up marks a great end to the season for Gavi who missed a large chunk of the campaign due to a serious knee injury that required surgery.
It’s been a long way back to full fitness for the combative midfielder but he’s impressed since returning to the Barca team and has now been handed a dream World Cup call-up.
Yamal was with Gavi when the squad was announced and showed just how much it meant to his team-mate to be selected by Luis de la Fuente.
The Spain boss is a big fan of the midfielder and had hinted at a call-up before making his squad announcement on Monday.
Gavi will now be hoping he can make an impact at the tournament, with Spain bidding to lift the World Cup trophy for the first time since 2010.
