Estevao’s hamstring injury came at such a low moment for Chelsea that it was almost lost in the chaos of the final days of Liam Rosenior’s disaster spell in charge.

However with the dust now settling at Chelsea and the season over, we are starting to finally come to terms with it. SportWitness have today translated quotes from Brazil about the winger’s recovery, and it feels like we’re finally getting some concrete details.

Estevao’s potential return date listed at last with preseason off the cards

Their piece quotes claims from ESPN Brazil, who say that Estevao’s rehab is “advancing well” and that he could return around the beginning of August. It would mean he’s out of pre-season under new manager Xabi Alonso.

That would be about a 6 month absence just to return to training, showing just how severe a tear it must have been. The real concerns now have to be about any long term physical effects on the teenager, who couldn’t have looked more exciting in his first year.

In other news…

Spanish paper AS covered the Chelsea players who want to leave, and the players who would replace them – who are currently miles off good enough.

Arsenal have been linked with interest in Enzo Fernandez, a move Chelsea would obviously rather avoid, and one that would make the Gunners stronger.
