NBA superstar forward and free agent LeBron James is going to take his time weighing his options for his soon-to-be unprecedented 24th season.

In his recent podcast episode alongside Steve Nash, “Mind The Game,” James provided a clearer timeline of when he will make his next move.

“Yeah, I’m still in the moment of taking my time,” James said. “I haven’t really thought about it too much, I understand that I am a free agent and I can control my own destiny.

“I haven’t even taken my family vacation, which is going to happen after Memorial Day. That’s the thing at the forefront of my mind.

“I think at some point up in June, late June, as July rolls around, free agency starts to get going and July rolling, maybe into August, we start to get a feel of what my future may look like. If it’s continuing to play the game that I love, which I could still give so much to the game and play at a high level, or if it’s not. But I have not got to that point yet.”

LeBron  James’ future remains one of NBA’s biggest storylines

The 41-year-old superstar is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer. James has a chance to start somewhere fresh if he chooses to, or there is a chance that he returns to the Lakers for what could be his ninth season with the team.

While retirement could technically be on the table for James, it still seems highly unlikely that it will happen this summer. What comes after this upcoming season, however, remains much more uncertain.

James could sign a deal with the Lakers this summer; however, they will have some major competition, specifically from the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors

The Warriors and Cavaliers appear to be the Lakers’ biggest challenge to potentially signing James. While those three teams appear to be the frontrunners, it remains a mystery where the 22-time All-Star will go.

“All the indications I’ve gotten over the course of the year is that he’s going to play one more season,” Charania said.

“The where? The how much of it all? That’s all obviously going to be a factor. Is it going to be Los Angeles? That’s got to probably be his preference. … The Lakers have made clear they want him back.”

The NBA world will be on pins and needles until they find out where the future Hall of Famers will go.
