BATON ROUGE, LA — At the conclusion of the 2025-26 high school sports season in Louisiana, LHSAA held a press conference announcing its partnership with the Sugar Bowl.
This partnership will be in effect starting July 1, 20026 heading into the 2026-27 school year, joining forces to bring even more coverage to high school sports across Louisiana.
“The Sugar Bowl will become the exclusive title sponsor of all LHSAA state championship events,” LHSAA Director of Communications Ethan Anderson said. “Moving forward, our championship events will officially carry the name The Sugar Bowl LHSAA state championships. This partnership goes far beyond logos and signage, through this agreement, Sugar Bowl will help enhance championship events across the state and through sports.”
Along with the new name for LHSAA-sanctioned state championship events, this partnership also includes Sugar Bowl branding, digital platforms, trophies, medals and event materials. Going forward, the high school football state championship will carry the name of “Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Prep Classic,” similar to the college football game now used in the NCAA College Football Playoff format.
According to LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonnie, this partnership will help advance the state championship experience for all sports.
“When you have a title sponsor that helps you with the venues, helps you with everything we do,” Bonnie said. “We do the best we can with the venues that we have and now we have the opportunity to continue to do that with the help of the Allstate Sugar Bowl working with the CEO Jeff Honey, and others here today.”
For the New Orleans-based organization, this partnership is a way to continue to give back to not just high school schools and athletes from the area but the entire state of Louisiana.
“We’re excited and needless to say a 92-year old organization doesn’t just jump into partnership with just anybody,” Honey said. “That shows you how much we think about the LHSAA. One of our biggest passions at the Sugar Bowl Committee is to support young people, not just in New Orleans, but around the state so now we get an opportunity to showcase that.”
