The Texas UIL softball playoffs have reached the semifinals, and the Lone Star State has its share of top-ranked contenders battling for a shot at the national title.
Three Texas teams, in fact, occupy the No. 2-4 slots in the latest edition of the MaxPreps national rankings. That includes the No. 2 Lake Creek [Montgomery] Lions, No. 3 Melissa Cardinals, and No. 4 Barbers Hill [Mt. Belvieu] Eagles.
Lake Creek competes in the UIL’s Class 5A Division II bracket, and they hold a 1-0 advantage headed into Game 2 of their best-of-three series against the Liberty Hill Panthers. The winner of this series will advance to the state championship series next weekend.
Game time for the second game is set for 7 p.m. EST/6 p.m. CST local.
