Lyon’s Tanner Tessmann out until the end of the season

Olympique Lyonnais’ Tanner Tessmann (24) is out for the rest of the season, his manager Paulo Fonseca announced at a press conference on Friday.

Suffering from a “muscle strain”, the US international, who has 14 caps (one goal), will therefore not be travelling to face Toulouse FC this Sunday, nor will he feature in the final league match against RC Lens next weekend. His participation in the World Cup is not, however, in jeopardy.

Having started 28 of the 41 matches he has played since the start of the 2025-26 season (two goals), the Birmingham, Alabama native has, however, seen his playing time reduced in recent weeks.

Orel Mangala might be in the squad for the match against Toulouse

Having picked up a thigh injury during the match against AJ Auxerre at the end of April, Orel Mangala (28) could be available for this weekend’s match. “We only have Orel (Mangala) who warmed up with us and I think he’ll do the full session tomorrow,” explained Fonseca.

Having returned from a cruciate ligament injury several weeks ago, the Belgian is now hoping to impress and convince Rudi Garcia, the Red Devils’ manager, to call him up for the World Cup in the United States this summer.
