Madden 27 cover athlete revealed and he’s already thinking bigger

Caleb Williams has been rewarded for his breakout sophomore season.

The Bears quarterback will be the cover athlete of Madden 27, EA Sports announced Wednesday. The standard edition cover of the game features Williams’ Air-Jordan-esque throw from the Wild Card win over the Packers.

The 2024 first overall pick saw it as a longtime accomplishment.

“Childhood dream,” Williams said to the Kelce brothers on an episode of the New Heights podcast. “It’s gonna go up for sure. It’s probably gonna be one of the newer trophies for me, being able to put it up right next to all those other cool trophies I have.”

But his real dream is to do something no player has ever done in Madden.

“They’ve never had two back to back (players on the cover),” Williams said. “That’s my thing, let’s see if we can go and make it back-to-back this year.”

Williams is the first Bears player to be on the cover since the trend started in 2001. This past season, he led the Bears to an 11-6 record and the NFC divisional round for the first time since 2010.

Williams had another prediction, too.

“End of the year it will be 99,” Williams said, referring to his rating on the game. He’s currently a 90 overall rating.
