Earlier this week, we asked Michigan fans to predict how many wins Pat Fitzgerald will have as the head coach of Michigan State through his five-year contract. And now, the results are in.

Fitzgerald was 1-9 against Michigan as Northwestern’s head coach, and now the majority of Michigan fans believe he’ll do even worse against the Wolverines at Michigan State. 44% of voters think Fitzgerald will win zero games against Michigan, 35% predict one or two wins, 11% predict three or four wins, and 10% predict five wins.

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Michigan State is tied with Rutgers, Purdue, and Maryland with the lowest odds of winning the Big Ten Championship this season at +30000. The odds don’t reflect Fitzgerald’s view, as he recently said he expects MSU to win the Big Ten this season.

Michigan State just lost its athletic director, J Batt, who left East Lansing after a year to become the athletic director at Kentucky. Michigan State basketball coach Tom Izzo expressed frustration with the departure, stating he can’t stand what’s going on and Batt leaving was “self-inflicted.” Losing an athletic director after one year could be a sign of negative things to come for Michigan State athletics as a whole, including the football team.

MSU has gone 18-30 over the past four seasons and has lost the last four games versus Michigan. Will this change anytime soon? Based on this edition of SB Nation Reacts, more dark days could be ahead for the Spartans.
