Michigan basketball coach Dusty May is going national.
The Wolverines announced on Friday, May 8, the program’s head coach will serve as one of the assistant court coaches during the opening phase of training camp for the 2026 U.S. Men’s U18 National Team.
He will be joined in that capacity by longtime Oakland coach, Greg Kampe, both of whom are making their USA Basketball coaching debuts.
Training camp officially begins in less than two weeks on Thursday, May 21. The final squad, which will have 12 players, is expected to be announced before the team departs for the 2026 FIBA U18 AmeriCup, set for June 1-7 in Leon, Mexico.
Last year, Michigan’s Morez Johnson Jr. starred on the gold medal winning U19 team in Switzerland, while L.J. Cason was one of a few dozen players to tryout for the team, but did not make the final roster. U-M’s incoming guard Trey McKenney had a chance to try out for the team as well, but he opted to go straight to Ann Arbor to get acclimated with the program.
The Wolverines don’t have any players who were on the 35-player participation list set for later this month in Colorado Springs, Colorado, however there are a pair of incoming Spartans in center Ethan Taylor and guard Jasiah Jervis.
