The series loss marked the second consecutive occasion that Bangladesh have clean swept Pakistan in a multi-match Test series. The Tigers had previously stunned Pakistan with a historic 2-0 triumph on Pakistani soil in 2024, winning both Tests in Rawalpindi. Two years later, Bangladesh repeated the feat at home, sealing another 2-0 whitewash with a 78-run victory in the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
With these back-to-back clean sweeps, Bangladesh became only the second team in Test cricket history to whitewash Pakistan in consecutive series featuring two or more matches. The only other side to achieve the feat was Australia national cricket team between 1999 and 2009. Bangladesh have also now won four consecutive Test matches against Pakistan for the very first time.
Bangladesh dominate the series
Bangladesh completely outplayed Pakistan throughout the series. The hosts won the opening Test in Dhaka by 104 runs before clinching the second Test in Sylhet by 78 runs to complete the clean sweep. Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim was named Player of the Series after scoring 253 runs across the two Tests.
The defeat further deepened Pakistan’s alarming decline in away Test cricket. The loss in Sylhet extended Pakistan’s away losing streak to seven consecutive Test defeats, equalling their worst-ever run between 2018 and 2020.
Social media erupts with trolling
Following the humiliating whitewash, social media platforms were flooded with memes, jokes and sarcastic reactions aimed at Pakistan’s poor performances. Fans mocked Pakistan’s repeated batting collapses, inconsistent bowling displays and inability to handle Bangladesh’s spin attack.
