The Milwaukee Bucks have had a nightmare over the past few seasons. Ever since winning the NBA championship in 2021, they had struggled to return to the pinnacle of the Eastern Conference, let alone the league.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the face of the franchise, but it seems he is on his way out with a trade coming up in the offseason. At the same time, he might be at the core of the problem with the team’s culture at the moment.

Myles Turner exposes some of the Bucks’ worrying troubles

For a long time, the Bucks were seen as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. With players like Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday, they had a stable team culture.

Unfortunately, that has all crumbled, as Giannis is the only remaining player from that core group. Now, it seems a lot of players have checked out, including Antetokounmpo.

During his first year with the Bucks, Myles Turner saw a lot of problems within the team’s culture. This was most evident during team activities because there were a lot of players arriving late, and they were not being punished for it.

“Doc Rivers, he didn’t find anybody. Guys were late all the time, guys were showing up to film whenever they wanted to show up, and guys were missing meetings. It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever experienced,” Turner said on his Game Recognize Game podcast with Breanna Stewart.

“If the plane took off at 2:00, we were leaving at 4:30. I’m being so serious…  Giannis is going to show up whenever he wants, really. I think it just came with the territory.”

The comments about the players being late, and Giannis, in particular. This led to the two-time MVP throwing some shade at Turner on X, telling people to mind their business.

It is getting messy in Milwaukee, and it might get cleared up if Giannis gets traded. If that does not happen, new head coach Taylor Jenkins will probably establish a fresh culture that holds everyone accountable.
