Nation’s No. 1 QB announces commitment decision

Five-star quarterback Elijah Haven has committed to Alabama Crimson Tide, as expected. Haven’s commitment may have missed for many fans in the midst of the NFL draft. The five-star chose Alabama over the Georgia Bulldogs and will now focus on preparing for his final high school season and his freshman campaign in Tuscaloosa.

At 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, Haven is widely regarded as the top quarterback prospect from the class of 2027. The Louisiana native would have been a massive addition to the Bulldogs’ 2027 recruiting class, as Haven had Georgia in his top-two. The star quarterback has been excellent during his time at Dunham High School (Baton Rouge, Louisiana), as Haven recorded an extremely impressive 9,274 yards and 134 touchdowns across three seasons on the high school level.

Haven is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback and the No. 2 player from the class of 2027, per the 247Sports Rankings. He is ranked as the top player in Louisiana. Coach Kirby Smart and his staff will now turn their recruiting attention elsewhere following Haven’s commitment to the Crimson Tide.

Georgia currently holds one of the better 2027 recruiting classes despite missing out on Haven. The Dawgs have recently submitted an offer to 2028 quarterback prospect Kaden Craft as well, as Georgia should have no problem with finding Haven’s replacement in the future.

Georgia has no commitments from quarterbacks in the class of 2027. However, the Bulldogs have the No. 15 recruiting class in the nation. UGA has eight total commitments.

Haven is Alabama’s second quarterback commitment in the class of 2027. The Crimson Tide also have a commitment from four-star quarterback Trent Seaborn, who is on decommitment watch now. Alabama has the nation’s No. 38 recruiting class and five commitments in the 2027 cycle.
