Nebraska enters the WCWS after defeating Oklahoma State to win the Lincoln Super Regional. Arkansas defeated Duke to win the Fayetteville Super Regional, their first Super Regional title.
The Huskers won both the Big Ten Conference regular-season and tournament titles, marking the ninth time in program history that they have won both the regular-season and conference tournament titles in the same season. As a team, Nebraska is hitting .334 and averaging 6.9 runs per game. The pitching staff has a 1.81 ERA and an opponents’ batting average of .201 on the season.
Arkansas, with their first ever Super Regional title, is making its first appearance in the WCWS. The Razorbacks had an NCAA super regional record of 0-4 prior to this postseason. As a team, Arkansas hits .345 and averages 7.67 runs per game. The pitching staff has a team ERA of 2.52 and an opponents’ batting average of .213.
The winner advances to Saturday to face the winner of Alabama/UCLA. The loser faces the loser of Alabama/UCLA on Friday.
