Alex Remiro has addressed the growing speculation surrounding his future after being linked with a possible move to Barcelona in recent weeks.
The Real Sociedad goalkeeper was spotted at Barcelona airport as he began his holiday break, and reporters took the opportunity to ask him about the increasing rumours connecting him with the Catalan giants.
Rather than fully dismissing the speculation, the Spanish shot-stopper’s response will only fuel discussion around his future.
When asked directly about Barcelona’s interest, Remiro stated, “I’m on holiday. In life, you always have to be clear and never close doors to anyone.”

The goalkeeper also spoke openly about another major disappointment – his omission from Spain’s final squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Despite enjoying another strong campaign with Real Sociedad, Remiro was ultimately left out of the final 26-man list selected by the national team manager.
Discussing the situation, the goalkeeper admitted, “I spoke to the manager. I’m very confident.
“I’m disappointed and sad not to be able to go to the World Cup, but I’m happy to be among the goalkeepers of such high calibre.”
Supporting Spain
Although missing out on the World Cup was clearly painful for the goalkeeper, Remiro handled the disappointment with maturity and respect towards the players selected ahead of him.

“Ultimately, the standard is extremely high and excellent.
“I’m at peace with what I’ve done all year to be in contention, and I accept and recognise that the three who’ve made the squad (Unai Simon, David Raya and Joan Garcia) are top-class goalkeepers.”
It must be noted that Barcelona are interested in signing Remiro, but the current goalkeeping situation at the club is quite complex.
This is because while Joan Garcia continues to be the first choice, Wojciech Szczesny will continue for another season and signing Remiro would mean bringing a third top-choice player.
