For the most part the Atlanta Falcons‘ roster is set for the 2026 season. However, they still have time to make at least one more splash move. On that front, the best possible addition that the Falcons could make between now and Week 1 would be signing a proven veteran wide receiver who could fill the Z role opposite Drake London’s X.
The biggest names still on the market include Tyreek Hill, Deebo Samuel, DeAndre Hopkins, Keenan Allen and Stefon Diggs, who has been linked to the Falcons in the latest mailbag column by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. Breer also names the Commanders, Chiefs and Rams as potential landing spots.
“I think Diggs will probably be somewhere in that one-year, $10 million range. The Chiefs could make sense. The Commanders might, too, since Diggs is from D.C. The Falcons and Rams would also be interesting landing spots.”
Diggs is of course a classic stereotype of a diva wide receiver. However, his talent is still impressive enough to keep landing him jobs every year despite repeated off-field problems at every stop along the way. Last year, Diggs managed to put up 85 catches, over 1,000 yards and four touchdowns in New England. If you don’t count his injury-shortened 2024 season, Diggs has posted at least 1,000 receiving yards seven straight years.
That kind of consistency is hard to find – and only Mike Evans has a claim to producing better regular returns over the last decade. Atlanta needs somebody like Diggs to complete the picture at wide receiver, which is arguably still their biggest roster hole on offense even after adding Zachariah Branch in the draft.
If Diggs can truly be signed for one year and anywhere near $10 million, the Falcons should jump at the chance.
