NEW YORK — The Mets are set to play their first doubleheader of the season on Sunday afternoon.
The two games against the Rockies will be single admission, with the first game slated for 1:40 p.m. and the second to follow 30 to 45 minutes after at Citi Field.
With that, Carlos Mendoza will have some challenges as he also tries to navigate some workloads, with Juan Soto still in the early stages back from his left calf strain and the team being careful with Luis Robert Jr.
The Mets will need to win both games to secure the series after falling in the series opener, 4-3, on Friday night. The Mets hit into four double plays, with their biggest rally ended when Mark Vientos lined out to second base with two runners on and one out in the eighth inning.
It snapped a two-game win streak for the Mets, who enter the two-game set with a 9-17 record.

The Mets will have Nolan McLean on the mound for the opening game of the doubleheader and Kodai Senga slated for the second game.
McLean enters with a 1-1 record, 2.67 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in five starts. Last time out, he threw five perfect innings against the Twins before encountering some trouble and finishing with three earned runs allowed on five hits with 10 strikeouts in 6⅔ innings.
Former Mets left-hander Jose Quintana will take the ball for the Rockies. He’s made three starts this season, going 0-2 with a 6.23 ERA and 1.85 WHIP.
