Oak Ridge’s Mikee Teasley wins Mr. Baseball award again

Mikee Teasley is Mr. Baseball again.

The recent Oak Ridge High School graduate will soon be playing baseball for the University of Tennessee. This week, he’s playing in the 2026 TSSAA Class 4A Baseball State Championship in Murfreesboro.

On May 19, he attended the Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association Mookie Betts Mr. Baseball Awards. For the second year in a row, Teasley won for Class 4A.

“It’s more than just about me, it’s about Oak Ridge,” said Teasley, who hit .396 with nine doubles, four homers, 27 RBIs and 24 stolen bases. He also tossed 47 innings, going 7-0 with an 0.79 ERA and 66 strikeouts.

“It’s something special, and I’m honored. “Everybody we (UT) recruited so far are dogs, and that’s what we plan to raise at Tennessee. That’s just the standard there. You’ve got to be great to be a recruit over there.”

The Vols were well represented at the awards ceremony. Teasley was joined by fellow winner, Lipscomb Academy star and Tennessee baseball signee Jack Dugan.

Ole Miss commitment Braydin Jones, of University School of Jackson in DII-A, was a winner and finalists included Tennessee commitment Gaven French (Heritage, 3A) and Vanderbilt signee Brody Carr (Jefferson County, 4A).

Betts, a former Overton star, currently with the Los Angeles Dodgers, became a title sponsor of the awards this season. Award winners received a signed Betts jersey while finalists received a signed baseball.
